I am qualified and insured to deliver Animal Assisted Therapy - as part of counselling or as a stand alone therapy. Having animals in the therapy room can provide comfort to clients and help contribute to a feeling of warmth and safety. Animals can offer affection and true acceptance and can show us how to appreciate the joy of the present moment - they don't worry about what happened yesterday or what might happen tomorrow. Positive interactions between people and animals can help to improve mood, self worth and confidence, they can provide relief from stress and anxiety and encourage the development of relationships and emotional bonds built on trust and respect.
I work with my own pets; Sophie the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Ragdoll cats Merlin and Perdita. They have been chosen to assist me in my therapeutic work due to their calm and sweet natures.
'Animals are such agreeable friends - they ask no questions; they pass no criticisms.' George Eliot
